Notre Dame must be restored exactly as it was before Fire: French Senate

The medieval cathedral of Notre Dame in Paris, France, is one of the country’s most famous landmarks. A fire broke out beneath the roof of the cathedral on 15thApril 2019 and the reason behind the fire is not clear yet.

The process to the renovation and reconstruction of Norte Dame Cathedral has taken a new, good and solid step forward with the latest decision of the French Senate. After the fire spread out through the cathedral on 15thApril that damaged the cathedral’s spire and rooftop very brutally, but now the government of France has launched an international architecture competition to solicit idea for what could be a new design for the cathedral, which is country’s most iconic landmarks.

While the French Senate reviewed the restoration bill, which had been already passed by the National Assembly (the other chamber of the French Parliament) and they also issued the decision that the Notre Dame is to be restored exactly as it was before the fire, faithful to the “last visual statement” of Notre Dame.

Now the bill has gone back to the National Assembly to be again approved with the new clauses, which is put by the French Senate. The work of renovation and reconstruction is expected to be completed by 2024 when Paris will host the 26thOlympic Games.
